Velofutur in collaboration with Barry and Ciska Austin from South Africa arranged a training camp that took place at the beginning of January for a group of riders representing the Free State Sports Science Institute, the High Performance Centre from one of the provinces in South Africa, at the Hotel Castilla in Benidorm.
The team spent an entire week training on the roads of Costa Blanca including the mountains and scenic flat routes.
This was arranged as a bespoke training camp taking into account the needs and requirements of the riders and their personal objectives to improve their performance by introducing them to new training methods.
The highlight of the camp was an expert providing personal biomechanics studies for each rider to improve their bike positioning with massages to help recover after their training.
The training camp included transfers to and from the airport, accommodation on full board by the seaside, with van supported rides offering mechanical support and feed stations.
As it was the first time the group attended a camp in Spain, the training camp also included a number of leisure events in the local area with a visit to the Museum of the Arts and Science in the city of Valencia as well as a tasting sessions to the yummy chocolate museum in Villajoyosa, Alicante.
